ACTIONS BEFORE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
In order to keep the congregation informed of the actions of the Board of Trustees, I will provide a periodic report as to decisions by the Board.
December 21, 2025 Regular Board Meeting Summary:
– The Investment Committee chair and cochairs were authorized by the Board to become Authorized Agents of the Church’s various funds. They will give full trading authority to the President and Vice President of these accounts when those officers take office, and shall remove full trading authority from those officers when they leave office.
This procedure streamlines the method of transferring Church fund accounts to the President and Vice President each year.
– The Belonging Committee was authorized to create and promote (in cooperation with the Communications Committee) events and activities surrounding the 2026 General Assembly.
-The Board authorized Emerson’s staff to agree to and negotiate the terms of hosting the “Focus on Abortion” exhibit provided by the Americans United for Separation of Church & State.
-The Board adopted an Interim Right Relationship Covenant and Policy, authorizing the Right Relations Working Group to promulgate a covenant and policy to the congregation for a comment period; thereafter to incorporate congregational feedback into a revised covenant and policy; then submit these to the board for review, feedback, and approval.
A Right Relations Committee was also established. It acts as an intermediary between church members, board members, officers, volunteers, staff members, and the minister(s) to help reestablish right relations when the covenant is broken or disrupted. Its purpose is to resolve disputes between individuals.
-The Board established a Safe Church Policy. The Policy creates a Safe Church Team (a committee) responsible for addressing violent or unruly individuals; safeguarding individuals attending the church or its events from violent events; establishing evacuation plans and assembly areas; evacuating the Church in an orderly manner in case of a fire or other emergency; dealing with a medical issue or emergency; aiding in locationing of any lost children; and any other reasonably related task dealing with the safety or physical well being of individuals attending the church or its events. Hilary Ritz was authorized to make certain changes to the Policy.
