The Spring semester of the Emerson ESL program ended on Thursday, April 25th. As is our tradition, we had an end of semester party for all 4 of our classes. The teachers supplied a cake and drinks, and the students brought a variety of dishes, many of which were examples of typical dishes from their home countries. The students received certificates for completion of the semester and several students received small trophies to honor their dedication and high attendance. A fun time was had by all. On Saturday, April 27th, the ESL teachers gathered at Deborah Wotring’s house for a potluck dinner and a chance to review the semester and share our experiences teaching these great students. We all agreed that it is a joy to teach these students and watch their growth in their ability to speak English which enables them to better function in their daily lives while they live in this country.

Our ESL program plays a vital role in fulfilling inclusivity, providing valuable educational resources, and creating a welcoming space for individuals from diverse backgrounds. By supporting English language education, the church can empower individuals, fostering a sense of belonging and integration for diverse members of the community. This initiative not only fulfills a social responsibility but also enhances the church’s impact, demonstrating a commitment to uplifting lives and building bridges across cultures, creating a more inclusive and harmonious community.
