Today is the First Sunday of Advent. Christians across the world will begin to prepare for Christmas. What can we learn from their tradition? How can it be meaningful to us?

The concepts of free will and determinism have played a major role in religion, philosophy, and secular society. Do we as individuals have a major power of choice in determining our decisions, actions, and outcomes? Our emphasis will be on how this has affected religious thought and practices.
