Deepening the Potential of Love with Rev. Susan-Lynn Johns

Deepening the Potential of Love: There are too many varieties and definitions of love to pinpoint exactly what it is, how it operates, and what makes us successful at it. But one thing I do know is that there’s not enough of it in our lives and in our country today. This Sunday I’ll be taking a look at love through the metaphorical eyes of our Universalist heritage, Greek philosophy,, and the Beatitudes.

Ordained in 2016 by her congregation in Vermont, the Rev. Susan-Lynn Johns is a native of South Carolina. She holds M.A and M.F.A degrees in theatre and communications and was active in several denominations prior to discovering Unitarian Universalism and attending the Memphis Theological Seminary. In 2013 she was named a Fellow of the Cohen Institute for the Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

Of her faith journey, she says: “I am ever indebted to each of the religious traditions that helped to form me as a spiritual being on my long and enlightening expedition towards ministry. I feel that this Journey, which was so much more than that of a seeker unable to make up her mind, uniquely prepared me for ministry in the Unitarian Universalist Church.”
