A random conversation in 2002 prompted Laura Emerson and her husband to move from a Houston high rise to the Alaska bush in 2012. Their life is partly Thoreau or Laura Ingalls Wilder and partly 21st century, but without other people nearby. Laura says her life has changed her socially, intellectually, and spiritually.
