“Experience in a Cult”
Alexandra Fleit will share about her experience spending 11 years in the International Churches of Christ (ICOC), a high-control religious group that profoundly shaped her young adulthood. Her presentation will explore how coercive spiritual environments can impact identity, autonomy, mental health, relationships, and the ability to trust oneself. She will also discuss the emotional complexity of leaving, the process of rebuilding a sense of self afterward, and the importance of education around undue influence and religious trauma.
